PATTERNS - Rod Serling

  1. Rod Serling...one of my favorites. I think it's so cool that there's what looks like a model of a B-17 on the far right of his desk; it's the type of plane he jumped out of during WWII.

  2. True, Rocket. Serling was an amazing guy.

  3. There are two versions of "Patterns" out there, the original Kraft Theatre version starring Richard Kiley, and a theatrical version with Van Heflin. Both were directed by Fielder Cook, and both are well worth seeing. You could probably film it again today and it would give "Mad Men" a run for its money.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to be Rod Serling in Hollywood, listen to this (stick around to the end and you'll hear some sadly prescient comments about smoking):
